About Rebekah

Rebekah 2_edited.jpg

Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Rebekah is an acrylic painter who received her Visual Arts degree with a concentration in painting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2011. She has taught private art lessons as well as group lessons since 2008. Rebekah travels across the country selling her work at juried art fairs. She also accepts a certain number of commissions every year.

After a hiatus from painting due to difficult pregnancies, Rebekah found herself thrust back into the world of art when foundation repairs left nine rectangular holes in her family’s basement walls. Something beautiful needed to cover these holes! From this challenge, Rebekah Chauvin Post-Impressionist Paintings was born, and these canvas-shaped holes continue to be covered by her artistic creations to this day. She rotates them out as she sells and creates new pieces of art.

With a post-impressionistic style, she views her work as active participation in co-creation. Man-made architecture and natural landscapes are brought to life through a colorful, multi-layered deconstruction process, showing the viewer that the complexities of life are easier to understand when brought back to their basic forms.

When not painting, Rebekah can be found enjoying her time with her loving husband and their four beautiful children. As a family, they enjoy gardening, taking walks, helping the homeless, hiking, and reading. The kids also have an area in the house designated to their own artistic endeavors.
