This painting depicts the Missouri Botanical Gardens Chihuly exhibit which graced the Gardens in 2023. Chihuly is a famous glass artist who has delved deeply into the realm of glass as sculpture. The spheres that you see floating in the water and on the boat are some of his beautiful creations. When I originally took the photo that inspired this painting, I remember distinctly thinking "why am I taking so many photos today? I won't end up doing anything with them." Two years later, as I looked through my thousands of photos for inspiration, I came across the photo again and I was immediately overwhelmed with the desire to paint it.
