Years ago, I taught a group painting class in the small town of Parks, Louisiana. I brought my students downtown as well as to River Ranch to take photos which they could paint from. This is a photo I took there as an example. River Ranch is an oasis in the heart of the growing college town of Lafayette. It is a subdivision which has many lakes, restaurants, and parks. It was modeled after the New Orleans Garden District. As such, it is filled with colorful brick, wrought iron, and beautiful landscaping and greenery.
