In college, I went on a pilgrimage with a large group of fellow students, including my future husband, to Rome, France, and Spain. I took many photographs while there, many of which inspired the paintings for my senior show in 2011. Lourdes, a beautiful, small town in the hills of France, especially captivated me. The experience of visiting during a major Marian feast day, with the city crammed with people, was profound. This painting captures the profound spirituality and vibrant atmosphere of that unique day.
